Water Conservation, Water Resources & Management
Working towards awareness and management of water resources in rural and tribal communities, CRSMBS supports communities in sustainable water usage and conservation practices. We promote water literacy among tribal and rural households to ensure long-term water security and responsible resource management.
Ecological Restoration
A primary objective of our work is to revitalize ecosystems that have degraded due to natural or human-induced causes. We strive to restore ecological balance through initiatives such as planting native tree species, water and soil conservation, the restoration of rivers and streams, and the revival of natural habitats.
Institution Building & Agriculture
Smallholder farmers are trained in natural farming, group farming, and small-scale industries based on forest products, with agricultural programs covering millets, seed processing, and animal husbandry as sustainable livelihood sources. At the institutional level, Gram Sabhas are strengthened under the PESA Act, building capacity at the village level. Forest Rights Committees are formed and trained to manage community forest resources sustainably, while the Case Registration Center and Community Resource Center support communities in accessing their rights and entitlements. Rojagar Hami Yojana workshops connect villagers with government employment schemes.
Sustainable Forest Management
Our organization is committed to the protection, conservation, and sustainable use of forest resources. Forests are not merely natural resources; they are vital pillars supporting the livelihoods and culture of local communities, as well as maintaining ecological balance. We work towards the long-term management of forests, prevention of forest fires, conservation of natural resources, and the strengthening of forest-based livelihoods through the active participation of Gram Sabhas and local communities.
Biodiversity Conservation
Biodiversity is essential for ecological stability and human well-being. Our organization works to preserve and conserve native flora, wildlife, medicinal plants, and traditional knowledge. Through initiatives like biodiversity documentation, community participation, habitat protection, and conservation activities, we aim to safeguard rich biodiversity for future generations.
Climate Resilience
Climate change is significantly impacting rural and tribal communities. To address these challenges, we implement various programs focused on climate-resilient livelihoods, water resource management, natural resource conservation, and disaster risk reduction. A key goal of our work is to empower communities to adapt to climate change and enhance their resilience.
Rural Development
Over 300 Self-Help Groups have been established across rural areas, empowering 1,800+ women through leadership, entrepreneurship, and livelihood skills training. Quality education has been extended to 2,000+ children through formal and informal schooling programs, while 5 health awareness campaigns and health camps have reached over 7,000 individuals across rural communities. Free medical assistance and health advice have been provided to 500 rural families. Sustainable agricultural practices including natural farming and group farming are promoted among smallholder farmers, and community learning centers continue to support early education for rural children aged 3 to 8 years.
Tribal Development
CRSMBS works to implement Community Forest Rights and the PESA Act, securing the legal rights of tribal communities over their land and forests. Over 600 villagers actively participated in forest rights awareness and documentation, with 5 villages submitting their CFR claims to SDLC and legal assistance provided to 8 villagers for individual forest rights claims. More than 20 training sessions were conducted for Forest Rights Committees. Alongside this, livelihood training in goat farming, poultry farming, bamboo craft, and tailoring has been provided to tribal women, while health camps, education programs, and community learning centers have extended essential services to remote tribal hamlets. Miyawaki forests with 3,000 saplings have been planted to promote biodiversity in tribal areas.
Community-Based Forestry
Forest conservation and management are not possible without the active participation of local communities. We promote community-based forestry by strengthening Gram Sabhas, Forest Rights Committees, and local leadership. We work to reinforce the strong bond between forests and communities through the sustainable management of Community Forest Resource areas, the development of forest-based livelihoods, the participation of women and youth, and democratic decision-making processes.
Our Approach
We believe that prosperous forests, empowered communities, and a sustainable future are inextricably linked. Therefore, we strive to achieve balanced and long-term development between nature and society by implementing initiatives grounded in the principles of environmental conservation, social justice, local self-governance, and sustainable development.
